About Us

Tenor saxophonist/leader Michael Antonelli has been performing throughout the Hudson Valley since 1978.He was a performer/ arranger and eventual leader of the popular dance band "Silk-n-Sounds" which he performed in between 1982-2005. He currently performs with the seventeen piece New York Swing Exchange, www.nyswingexchange.com ,the Sharp 9 band, www.sharp9.net , and his own jazz quartet. Michael earned his bachelor's degree in professional music from Berklee College in Boston, his masters in music education from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, and is currentlly working towards his Doctor of Musical Arts degree through Boston University. He has studied with saxophonists Louis Soloway, Joe Viola, Frank Tiberi, and Joe Lovano. He is currently the high school band director at Valley Central High School in Montgomery, NY.

Kevin Golden, was born 12/17/57 in New Rochelle, NY, and grew up in the Newburgh/Hudson Valley area. He attended high school at Newburgh Free Academy, and college at the University of South Carolina and North Carolina State University, receiving a BS in Chemistry.

 He has spent most of his 26 year “day job” career in jobs that support the semiconductor, solar, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries and is co-author of six US Patents.   Guitarist Kevin Golden has been playing jazz for over 22 years in the New York Hudson Valley area. His style is reminiscent of Grant Green, Rene Thomas, Joshua Breakstone, and other jazz guitar legends. He has studied with Joshua Breakstone, Peter Leitch, John Scofield, and Sal Salvador.


 

 Double Bassist Peter Nobile began his musical journey when he was thirteen, honing his electric bass skills in various rock bands up until the early 90’s, most notably Hudson Valley classic rock favorite The Barking Spiders. Inspired by jazz fusion to pursue other branches of jazz, Peter turned to the double bass. He has been fortunate to have studied with amazing players/mentors and credits his main influences as Lou Pappas and Rufus Reid. For the past eight years, he has held the bass chair for The New York Swing Exchange (www.nyswingexchange.com) as well as having freelanced in a variety of musical settings, from theatre and church music to various jazz settings.

Drummer Tim Herrmann

Hyde Park, NY native Tim Herrmann began his professional music career performing with local bands at age 13.  A student of Steve Beers, Charlie Morano, Collin Walcott and Sonny Igoe,  Tim has performed with “The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra”, “The Swing & Sway with Sammy Kaye Orchestra” and  “The Lawrence Welk All-Stars”.  Tim is a regular performer at The Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY with the Swing & Ballroom Dance Band “The Night Owls”. www.andymoss.com/nightowlinfo.html
